MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611007116 A) filed by Batx Energies Private Limited, Gurugram, Haryana, on Jan. 24, for 'lithium extraction apparatus and method for recovering battery-grade lithium from hydrometallurgical leach solutions.'

Inventor(s) include Vikrant Singh.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A lithium extraction apparatus for recovering battery-grade lithium from hydrometallurgical leach solutions. The apparatus comprises feed-conditioning unit configured to receive a leach solution and remove heavy-metal impurities. The apparatus further comprises pre-concentration evaporator configured to concentrate the conditioned leach solution. The apparatus further comprises a primary crystallizer, which comprises jacketed vessel configured to maintain the concentrated solution within controlled temperature range, an agitation unit configured to maintain uniform suspension of crystals, and a controlled cooling profile configured to induce selective crystallization of Li2SO4 H2O while maintaining sodium sulfate in a dissolved state. Apparatus further comprises separation unit configured to separate lithium sulfate monohydrate crystals from mother liquor, a secondary crystallizer configured to receive mother liquor and induce crystallization of Na2SO4 as by-product, and drying unit configured to receive and dry the separated lithium sulfate monohydrate crystals below 120 C to maintain a moisture content of less than 0.5 wt %."
