MUMBAI, India, Nov. 28 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202311073652 A) filed by Birla Institute Of Technology & Science, Pilani, Rajasthan, on April 30, 2024, for 'lipopolymeric system for delivery of mirna and method of preparation thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Mittal Anupama; Shinde Pratik Pramod; Saibhargav Narisepalli; and Chitkara Deepak.

The application for the patent was published on Nov. 28, under issue no. 48/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a novel cationic lipo-polymeric system to deliver miRNA comprising polyethylene glycol 5000 (PEG 5000), lactic acid (LA), 5-methyl-5-benzyloxycarbonyl-1,3-dioxane-2-one (MBC), N,N-dimethyldipropylenetriamine (DMDPTA) and -Sitosterol. A nanoplex complexed miR29b (NP-miR29b) nanocarrier system is formulated by electrostatic interaction of miR29b with the cationic lipo-polymeric system (mPEG-b-P{CB-[g-DMDPTA;g--Sitosterol]-co-LA}). The lipo-polymeric system retains miR29b integrity for at least 24 hours in fetal bovine serum (FBS)."
