MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541116117 A) filed by Nandha Engineering College, Erode, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 24, 2025, for 'linear fresnel solar dryer with integrated tracking, tilting and environment control for medicinal plants and spices.'
Inventor(s) include P. Sandhiyadevi; K. Pradeep Kumar; S. Gowtham; N. K. Kaviya; and S. Sanjay.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a solar thennal drying apparatus utilizing a linear fresnel trough to concentrate incident solar radiation onto a glass-enclosed receiver chamber for hygienic drying of agricultural produce. The system comprises a Fresnel trough mounted on a supported frame and actuated by a tracking and tilt mechanism that adjusts the trough orientation based on computed solar position and feedback from an LDR sensor. Concentrated thermal energy is directed to a glass receiver tray positioned at the focal region, fonning a sealed drying chamber with controlled airflow. A blower unit provides regulated ventilation, while a temperature-humidity sensor monitors drying conditions and enables automatic adjustment of airflow to maintain uniform drying. The apparatus is supported on a vertical column designed to withstand outdoor operating loads. The integrated tracking, sensing and ventilation control ensures efficient solar energy utilization, reduced drying time and improved hygiene of dried agricultural products."
