MUMBAI, India, Oct. 31 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202441032586 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd, Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on April 24, 2024, for 'lightweight image restoration.'
Inventor(s) include Gadde Raj Narayana; Addanki Sankararao; Nair Pravin Ramachandran; Sarvesh; Siddharth Shreekumar Sharma; and Yathish Reddy M.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 31, under issue no. 44/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The lightweight image restoration involves a naturalness restoration model (402) and a texture enhancement models (404). The electronic device (301) receives an input image (401) of a scene captured by an imaging sensor. The naturalness restoration model (402) receives the input image (401) to obtain naturalness restored image (1002) and restored natural characteristics of scene (1003).The texture enhancement models (404) receives input image to obtain texture-enhanced image (1202) and enhanced texture characteristics of the scene (1203). A generic image restoration model (403) receives the restored natural characteristics of the scene (1003), the enhanced texture characteristics of the scene (1203), and the input image (401) to obtain an intermediate enhanced image (1402) corresponding to the input image. The electronic device (301) generates an output image (406) by enhancing the input image with specific weightage applied to the intermediate enhanced image (1402), the naturalness restored image (1002), and the texture-enhanced image (1202)."
