MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511115558 A) filed by Manav Rachna University, Faridabad, Haryana, on Nov. 22, 2025, for 'lifting-based discrete wavelet transform system for signal compression.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Aparna Vyas; and Ms. Priyanka Kundu.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to a system (100) for discrete wavelet transform based signal compression. The system (100) comprises a housing (102), an input interface (104), a processing unit (106), a memory (108), an output interface (118), and a set of processing components instantiated within said memory (108), including a lifting pipeline (110), a multilevel decomposition controller (112), a coefficient threshold unit (114), and a quantization unit (116). Said processing unit (106) performs discrete wavelet transform using said lifting pipeline (110), manages multilevel decomposition through said controller (112), suppresses insignificant coefficients via said coefficient threshold unit (114), and encodes data symbols through said quantization unit (116) to produce compressed output. Said output interface (118) provides compressed data with reduced size and preserved signal integrity. Such a system (100) enables high-efficiency signal compression with reduced computational complexity and lower hardware resource consumption."
