MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517092365 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on Sept. 26, for 'lens assembly and electronic device comprising same.'

Inventor(s) include Kim, Changkeun; and Bae, Jaecheol.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "According to an embodiment of the present disclosure, a lens assembly comprises: an image sensor; at least four plastic lenses sequentially arranged along an optical axis in a direction toward the image sensor, the lenses including a first lens having negative refractive power, a second lens having negative refractive power, a third lens having refractive power, and a fourth lens having negative refractive power; and an aperture disposed between the first lens and the second lens. In an embodiment, the lens assembly satisfies at least some of the conditions disclosed regarding the angle of view, the position of the aperture, the ratio of the effective diameter of the first lens with respect to the effective image height of the image sensor, the distortion rate, and the thickness or shape of the third lens, thereby facilitating miniaturization of the lens assembly and providing an expanded angle of view. In addition, various embodiments may be possible."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 18, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/000911.
