MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411019757 A) filed by Sanskriti University, Mathura, Uttar Pradesh, on March 17, 2024, for 'leech extraction device.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A leech extraction device, comprising a platform 1 having cylindrical body 2 designed to be placed over a leech fortified on a user's body, an artificial intelligence-based camera 3 for capturing multiple images, a pair of chambers 4 having electronic nozzles for dispensing water and soapy solution, a plate 5 configured with a drawer arrangement via a motorized hinge 6 for extracting the leech, a pressure sensor for detecting the pressure exerted by the plate, a visiometer for detecting the skin type of user, a speaker 7 for providing voice commands to the user, multiple pneumatic pins 12 for inserting and opening the skin pores of the user's body, a flap 13 to exert pressure for extracting infected blood from user's body, a container 8 filled with antiseptic liquid for dispensing antiseptic on user's body part, and a motorized tweezer 10 for clasping and extracting out mouth portion of leech."
