MUMBAI, India, Aug. 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517065513 A) filed by Nippon Steel Corporation, Tokyo, on July 9, for 'laser welded joint and method for producing laser welded joint.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Provided is a laser welded joint (1) and a method for producing the same, the laser welded joint (1) comprising a plurality of steel sheets (11) and (12) and a weld metal (20) for joining the plurality of steel sheets (11) and (12), characterized in that: at least one of the plurality of steel sheets (11) and (12) is a high-strength steel sheet having a Vickers hardness of 320 HV or higher; the plurality of steel sheets (11) and (12) have a content of Al penetrated into the base metal that is higher than 0.10 mass% but not higher than 2.10 mass%; the weld metal (20) has an average Al content of 0.30-2.00 mass%; when the average Al content, average Si content, and average Mn content of the weld metal (20) are expressed by [Al], [Si], and [Mn], respectively, relationship 1 ([Al]/([Al]+[Si]+[Mn])=0.150) is satisfied; and Al-containing slag covers 30.0% or more of the surface of the weld metal (20)."
