MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202411073931 A) filed by Chandigarh Group Of Colleges, Mohali, Punjab, on Sept 30 for 'kitchen waste disposal device.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sandhya Jaiswal; Smriti; and Ankita Sharma.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A kitchen waste disposal device, comprising a rectangular base 1 having plurality of suction cups 2 for gripping onto a vertical surface, rectangular plate 3 attached to the base 1 on three sides each the side having plurality of rectangular flaps 4 connected to each other and with the base 1 and the plate 3 by hinges 5 thus enabling a collapsing of the plate 3 and an expansion thereof for creating an enclosed space, L-shaped telescopic arm 6 by a ball and socket joint 7 the arm 6 having a rectangular rubberized tray 8 for a wiping of the waste, artificial intelligence-based imaging unit 9 for recording and processing images in a vicinity of the base 1 to determine the waste on the kitchen counter and a speaker 14 to generate an audio warning for a user regarding an emptying of the enclosed space."
