MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541089805 A) filed by Skanray Technologies Limited, Mysuru, Karnataka, on Sept. 20, 2025, for 'isocentric c-arm medical imaging apparatus with spiral spring-based balancing mechanism.'

Inventor(s) include Krupashankar, Prashanth.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An isocentric C-arm medical imaging apparatus (100) is disclosed, featuring an isocentric C-arm assembly (7) rotatable about an isocentric axis (1) and a spiral spring-based balancer unit (3) configured to generate a counteracting torque that compensates for gravitational forces during rotation. The balancer unit (3) is housed within a yoke housing (8) at the isocentric axis (1) and includes a spring tension adjuster (4) for preload adjustment to accommodate variations in the center of gravity. Flexible tension members (5) connect the balancer unit (3) to opposed sides of the C-arm assembly (7), enabling smooth torque compensation during upward and downward movements. The system eliminates the need for lead counterweights, reducing overall weight and improving maneuverability. An operator handle (9) facilitates manual positioning with reduced effort."
