MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641051722 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 23, for 'irrigation control and water replenishment system and method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include M. Asha Jerlin; and Shailendra Kumar C S.
The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A system (100) and a method (200) for irrigation control and water replenishment includes sensors (102) to measure hydration level in soil, monitors environmental conditions, detecting water level in a storage tank; a first pump (104) for pumping water to plants; a second pump (106) for pumping water into the storage tank from an external water source; and a microcontroller (108) to transmit real time input data received from the sensors (102), the first and second pumps (104,106) in a remote server. The microcontroller (108) predicts irrigation requirement upon analyzing a predefined data with the stored real time input data using learning modules (108A) and actuates the first and second pumps (104,106) manually upon receiving manual commands through the interface unit (110) from a user or automatically upon executing predictive decision logic commands, thereby preventing simultaneous actuation of the pumps (104,106) to prevent pressure loss, dry-running, or electrical overload."
