MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541124189 A) filed by Sri Krishna College Of Engineering And Technology, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 9, 2025, for 'iot-integrated energy generation system using downward movement of escalators with ai-driven predictive load forecasting.'

Inventor(s) include Ms. K. Mythili; Ms. P. Alaguvathana; Dr. A. Christy Jeba Malar; Mr. Janarthanan V; Mr. Jayanthan S; and Ms. Riyana A Akshetha.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "IoT-Integrated Energy Generation System Using Downward Movement of Escalators with AI-Driven Predictive Load Forecasting The invention discloses an integrated energy-harvesting and intelligent safety system for escalators that converts the kinetic energy produced during downward movement into usable electrical energy through a gear-driven DC generator and rechargeable battery pack. An IoT monitoring layer continuously tracks load, speed, and electrical output, transmitting real-time data to a cloud analytics dashboard. A servo-controlled automatic braking system inspired by ABS ensures safe operation by adjusting braking force based on shaft speed thresholds. A novel feature of the invention is an AI-driven predictive load forecasting module that anticipates passenger flow using machine-learning algorithms and optimizes generator gearing and braking configuration in advance. The unified system enhances sustainability, safety, and operational intelligence, converting escalators from mere energy consumers into active components of smart infrastructure."
