MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511117389 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Nov. 26, 2025, for 'iot enabled smart locking system for two-wheeler petrol tanks.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The IoT Enabled Smart Locking System (100) for two-wheelers comprises an electromechanical locking mechanism (102) actuated by a servo motor or solenoid (104) controlled by a microcontroller (106). The system(100) includes a wireless communication module (108) for IoT connectivity, vibration and magnetic sensors (110) for tamper detection, and a rechargeable lithium-ion battery (112) for power supply. The cloud-based mobile application allows remote locking, unlocking, and real-time monitoring of the fuel cap while maintaining event logs. The system enhances fuel security, prevents unauthorized access, and ensures transparency through alert notifications and data logging. The design is retrofit-compatible, energy-efficient, and equipped with a manual override for reliability, providing an advanced security solution for two-wheeler fuel tanks."
