MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641049383 A) filed by Chaitanya Bharathi Institute Of Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on April 17, for 'iot enabled smart digital mobility performance (sdmp) stick for assistive navigation of visually impaired individuals.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides IoT enabled smart digital mobility performance (SDMP) stick for assistive navigation of visually impaired individuals. SDMP Stick is a high-tech Internet of Things (IoT)-powered assistive tool that can improve the mobility and autonomy of the visually impaired. It has also integrated the obstacle detection, fall detection using ultrasonic sensors and cameras and emergency notification using SOS module which has been enhanced through the haptic and voice-based feedback system. The gadget will improve user safety, awareness and navigation using real time guidance in tricky environments. The system is also effective because the visually impaired and the elderly users will be more independent and comfortable with the system in terms of navigation. In addition, the device is also scalable, and the integration of edge AI and machine learning solutions opens a plethora of opportunities in terms of the performance, usability, and practical application in the future."
