MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521110532 A) filed by Symbiosis International, Pune, Maharashtra, on Nov. 12, 2025, for 'iot-enabled remote surveillance rover for rugged mountainous terrains.'
Inventor(s) include Nitya Sharma; Nithish Ragavendara H; Harikrishnan R; and Ketan Kotecha.
The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention discloses an IoT-enabled remote surveillance rover (100) designed for operation in rugged mountainous terrains and harsh outdoor environments. The system integrates a Raspberry Pi 4 (104) as the central processing unit, a rocker-bogie chassis for stable mobility on slopes up to 45, six dual-shaft BO motors controlled via dual L298N motor drivers (107), and a 12V battery pack (106) for power. An ultrasonic sensor (101) provides real-time obstacle detection, while a camera module (102) streams live video through a 5G cellular communication module (105) to a remote operator interface (108). The rover supports remote operation with low-latency control, and a fallback GPS-based autonomous mode in case of connectivity loss. The modular system allows expansion with additional sensors and AI-based functionalities. Tested prototypes demonstrated stable terrain navigation, high-quality video streaming at over 20 FPS, and reliable operation for 40-45 minutes, making it suitable for border surveillance, reconnaissance, and emergency response missions."
