MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202621019804 A) filed by Prof. Sheela Chinchmalatpure; Samruddhi Desai; Samrudhi Deshmukh; Vishakha Deshmukh; Vijay Dharade; and Aditya Gajare, Pune, Maharashtra, on Feb. 20, for 'iot-based smart water leakage & overflow detection system using adaptive risk scoring and gsm alerts.'

Inventor(s) include Prof. Sheela Chinchmalatpure; Samruddhi Desai; Samrudhi Deshmukh; Vishakha Deshmukh; Vijay Dharade; and Aditya Gajare.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention discloses a Smart Water Leakage and Overflow Detection System that uses multi-sensor inputs-leakage, water level,-to continuously monitor environmental conditions. An Adaptive Risk Scoring Algorithm processes normalized sensor data and computes a real-time risk index (0-100%). Based on this score, the system triggers graded alerts using LEDs and buzzers, while critical states activate a relay and send SMS notifications through a GSM module. The invention provides accurate, real-time, autonomous monitoring suitable for residential, industrial, and municipal applications, significantly reducing overflow hazards, water wastage, and infrastructure damage."
