MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531129679 A) filed by Guru Nanak Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on Dec. 20, 2025, for 'iot-based smart solar charging bag with integrated security and emergency features.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An IoT-enabled smart solar charging bag integrates exterior high-efficiency solar panels, a buck-boost power conditioning module, a removable battery bank, multiple charging interfaces including USB-C, USB-A, Micro-USB and Qi wireless charging, and an ESP32-based IoT controller with integrated GSM and GPS modules; the controller monitors solar generation, voltage and current, and battery state, displays data on an on-board OLED and transmits telemetry via GSM to a mobile application; a vibration sensor, buzzer and LEDs provide anti-theft detection and deterrence controllable via the app; a concealed SOS button, when pressed, transmits GPS coordinates to preconfigured contacts and initiates a GSM voice call enabling remote listening to ambient audio; geofencing and worldwide tracking are provided via the GPS and GSM connectivity."
