The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention titled "IoT-Based Smart ID Card System for Real-Time Student Tracking" presents an advanced and reliable solution designed to improve student safety, automate school operations, and enhance communication between parents and educational institutions. As schools grow in size and student mobility increases, maintaining continuous awareness of student location has become essential for ensuring safety during campus activities and daily transportation. The proposed system integrates a compact GPS and IoT-enabled module into a Smart ID Card worn by each student. This module continuously captures the student's real-time location and transmits the data to a secure cloud server using Wi-Fi or GSM connectivity. The cloud platform processes incoming data streams, compares them with predefined safe zones, classroom boundaries, and bus route information, and provides instant updates to authorized users through a mobile and web-based interface. To further enhance safety and operational efficiency, the system incorporates Al-driven analytics capable of identifying unusual movement patterns, unauthorized zone exits, unexpected delays during commutes, and potential safety risks. These intelligent insights enable timely notifications to parents, teachers, and administrators, ensuring that appropriate actions can be taken without delay. The invention also supports automated attendance recording, eliminating the need for manual roll calls by marking attendance based on geolocation and proximity detection. The platform additionally offers a complete history of student travel routes, arrival and departure times, and campus activity logs, giving parents peace of mind and assisting schools in maintaining accurate records. Strong data security and privacy protection are maintained through AES-256 encryption, rolebased access control, and compliance with established child data protection standards. This ensures that sensitive student information remains confidential and accessible only to authorized individuals. Overall, the invention delivers a scalable, cost-effective, and future-ready smart campus solution that enhances student safety, streamlines school management, and supports efficient transportation monitoring. By combining IoT hardware, cloud analytics, Al-based intelligence, and secure communication, the IoT-Based Smart ID Card System establishes a robust foundation for next-generation educational safety and monitoring systems."
