MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122095 A) filed by Vellore Institute Of Technology, Vellore, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 4, 2025, for 'iot-based real-time gait monitoring and fall risk detection system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vaegae Naveen Kumar; and Mr. Anudeep Daggupati.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure provides a system for IoT-based real-time gait monitoring and fall risk detection. The system includes pressure sensors configured to capture foot pressure data during walking, a processing unit configured to execute a convolutional neural network for gait pattern classification, wherein the convolutional neural network is optimized using Particle Swarm Optimization, and an IoT communication module configured to transmit alerts based on classification results from the convolutional neural network. The pressure sensors include Velostat-based force sensors strategically positioned at heel, midfoot, and forefoot regions to capture comprehensive pressure distribution patterns across different phases of a gait cycle. The processing unit includes an ESP32 microcontroller (32) having dual-core processor architecture and wireless communication capabilities including Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. The IoT communication module integrates with a Blynk IoT platform using authentication token mechanisms for secure cloud-based communication and API endpoint access."
