MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631043269 A) filed by Narula Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on April 4, for 'iot based lpg leakage detection and prevention system using gsm module.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Nabanita Das; Dr. Chandrima Chakrabarti; Dr. Jayanta Pal; Aniket Das; and Dishari Ghosh.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An IoT-based LPG leakage detection and prevention system is disclosed, comprising a gas sensing array, a central processing unit, and a GSM communication module. The system provides real-time monitoring of LPG concentrations and, upon detection of a leak exceeding a safety threshold, automatically executes mitigation protocols including the disconnection of electrical mains via relays and the activation of ventilation systems. The system provides multi-staged alerts through SMS, automated voice calls, and a cloud-integrated web platform for remote telemetry. An integrated OLED display provides localized data visualization, while a battery backup system ensures fail-safe operation during power interruptions. The invention significantly reduces the risk of fire and explosion through autonomous mechanical intervention and globalized emergency notification."
