MUMBAI, India, Feb. 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641017463 A) filed by Vallurupalli Nageswara Rao Vignana Jyothi Institute Of Engineering And Technology, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Feb. 17, for 'iot-based intelligent system for underwater object classification and alert generation.'

Inventor(s) include N. Lakshmi Kalyani; K. Bhagya Rekha; Dr. D. Ramesh Reddy; Peddarapu Ramakrishna; and Karankot Sai Nithin.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An IoT-based automated underwater object classification and alert system is disclosed. The system includes an underwater data acquisition unit (110) for capturing visual data, a dataset preparation module (120), and an image preprocessing module (130) employing a generative adversarial network to enhance underwater image quality. A deep learning classification engine (150) detects and classifies objects as metallic or non-metallic in real time. A decision module (170) evaluates detected objects and activates an IoT communication and alert module (180) when metallic objects are identified. A user monitoring interface (190) displays detection results and notifications. The invention improves underwater safety, reduces false detections, enables real-time monitoring, and supports marine navigation, defense, and infrastructure inspection applications."
