MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511104296 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 29, 2025, for 'iot-based gas leakage and fire detection system.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Vishal Sarin; Dr. Sunaina Ahuja; Dr. Kulwinder Singh; and Preeti Khurana.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An IOT-based gas leakage and fire detection system, comprises of a Node MCU 101 controller configured to receive data from gas sensors 102 and flame sensors 103, MQ-2 gas sensors 104 configured to detect concentrations of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), a communication module 105 configured to transmit sensor data to a remote user application, a user interface application 106 configured to provide real-time monitoring of gas concentration levels and fire detection alert, a processor 107 that classifies emergencies into types like fire, traffic accident, gas leak, or medical distress, a control module 108 configured to initiate safety actions based on sensor data to minimize hazards."
