MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202531100244 A) filed by Guru Nanak Institute Of Technology, Kolkata, West Bengal, on Oct. 16, 2025, for 'iot-based car health monitoring, accident prevention, and early warning system.'

Inventor(s) include Ms. Bidyutmala Saha; Dr. Sayan Nath; Mr. Sujan Pal; and Ujjal Bhattacharya.

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure discloses an Internet of Things (IoT)-based vehicular health monitoring, accident prevention, and early warning system. The system comprises distributed vehicular sensors, an edge-based microcontroller, secure wireless communication modules, and a cloud-hosted predictive analytics platform. The disclosure enables continuous monitoring of vehicular parameters, predictive detection of mechanical failures, and proactive accident prevention. Upon detection of anomalies, the system issues real-time alerts to drivers through in-vehicle or mobile interfaces and may initiate automated vehicular controls, including adaptive braking and engine modulation. In critical scenarios, the system transmits secured emergency notifications containing failure details and geo-location data to contacts and authorities. By integrating real-time diagnostics, predictive maintenance, proactive accident prevention, and secure communication, the disclosure enhances vehicular safety, reliability, and efficiency."
