MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122414 A) filed by New Prince Shri Bhavani College Of Engineering And Technology; H Priyadharshini; M Priyadharshini; J Sreemathi; and S Hemalatha, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'iot based automated irrigation and environmental monitoring for precision agriculture.'

Inventor(s) include H Priyadharshini; M Priyadharshini; J Sreemathi; and S Hemalatha.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 6, under issue no. 06/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The main goal of this project is to address the challenges in agriculture such as water wastage, irregular irrigation, unpredictable weather, and shortage of labour. The proposed solution is an loT -based Automated Irrigation and Environmental Monitoring For Precision Agriculture designed to make farming smarter, more efficient, and sustainable. By combining automation with advanced sensor technologies, the project enables real-time monitoring and control for precision agriculture. The system is developed using an ESP32 microcontroller integrated with soil moisture, water level, temperature, humidity, rain, flame, and current sensors. These sensors continuously track environmental and crop condition~. Based on the collected data, the system automaticallx irrigates the soil when it is dry, stops irrigation when the tank overflows or when it rains, and triggers alerts in case of fire or abnormal current flow. In addition, a Bluetooth module allows farmers to control and monitor the system. through a mobile application, providing flexibility and ease of use. This smart irrigation prototype is portable and cost-effective, helping farmers conserve water, improve crop health, and reduce manual work compared to traditional farming methods. The project also promotes sustainability by encouraging eco-friendly agricultural practices. By integrating loT with automated irrigation and environmental monitoring, this project offers an innovative and sustainable solution for modern agriculture. With further development, it has the potential for commercialization and patenting, giving farmers an affordable and reliable tool for precision farming."
