MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541132902 A) filed by R. M. K. Engineering College, Tiruvallur, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 29, 2025, for 'iot and tinyml for smart food waste management.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "To increase the shelf life of food, researchers are developing new approaches to maintain food quality, as food grains are subject to spoiling owing to precipitation, humidity, temperature, and a range of other factors. As a result, effective food spoilage tracking systems are essential to maintain food quality standards. The objective of the present invention is to provide a low-cost, intelligent food waste management system that integrates Internet of Things (IoT) sensor fusion with embedded TinyML inference for real-time spoilage prediction."
