MUMBAI, India, Jan. 7 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511102424 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Oct. 24, 2025, for 'intrusion detection system (ids) for mqtt-enabled internet of things (iot) networks.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Alok Jain; Dr. Kulwinder Singh; Monica Gulati; and Preeti Khurana.

The application for the patent was published on Dec. 12, under issue no. 50/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An intrusion detection system (IDS) for MQTT-enabled Internet of Things (IoT) networks, comprising a data acquisition module 101 configured to receive network traffic data associated with MQTT communication between IoT devices, a feature extraction module 102 configured to generate a plurality of features from the received network traffic data, the features representing statistical, temporal, and protocol-specific characteristics of MQTT communication, an ensemble classification engine 103 comprising a plurality of base classifiers including a Gaussian Naive Bayes (GNB) classifier, a Kernel-based Support Vector Machine (K-SVM) classifier, and a Multi-Layer Perceptron (MLP) classifier, each configured to output an intrusion prediction score based on the extracted features and a meta- classifier 104 comprising a logistic regression model configured to integrate the intrusion prediction scores from the plurality of base classifiers to generate a final intrusion detection decision."
