MUMBAI, India, July 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521059668 A) filed by Institute Of Chemical Technology, Maharashtra, on June 21, for 'intranasal mucosal nanovaccine for infectious diseases and preparation method thereof.'
Inventor(s) include Prof. Vandana B. Patravale; Dr. Vikrant M. Bhor; Dr. Vainav V. Patel; Ms. Nikita D. Tiwari; and Dr. Muskan Kaushal.
The application for the patent was published on July 11, under issue no. 28/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to an innovative, safe, and effective intranasal mucosal nanovaccine for infectious diseases. The nanovaccine comprises of comprising Tamarind Seed Polysaccharide (TSP) as a polymer, Chitosan or a chitosan derivative as a surface-functionalizing agent, Quillaja Saponin (QS) as an immunoadjuvant, and a recombinant antigen selected from viral, bacterial, or parasitic pathogens. The nanovaccine includes stabilizers, preservatives, and solvents, forming nanoparticles with a size range of 100-500 nm. The invention further describes the process for preparation of nanovaccine formulation."
