MUMBAI, India, April 20 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202514086444 A) filed by Robert Bosch Limitada, Campinas, Brazil, on Sept. 11, 2025, for 'internal combustion engine control system, retrofit kit, and method.'

The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a system, retrofit kit, and method for controlling internal combustion engines to operate more efficiently by "shutting-off", i.e., selectively and individually deactivating one or more combustion chambers of said internal combustion engine 3, wherein at least one second engine control unit ECU2, modular with respect to a first engine control unit ECU1 of the original system 1, is capable of controlling controlled means 10a, 10b, also modular with respect to the original system 1, to actuate respective regulating rod(s) 54, 54a, 54b associated with respective lever(s) 53, 53a, 53b, which are actuated by respective camshaft(s) 52, 52a, 52b, and regulate the amount of fuel injected into the respective combustion chamber(s) 60a, 60b based on signals related to operating parameters of the internal combustion engine 3, thereby enabling immobilization of said regulating rod(s) 54, 54a, 54b and, consequently, selective deactivation of the respective combustion chamber(s) 60a, 60b in an individualized manner."
