MUMBAI, India, Jan. 23 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202511124477 A) filed by Chandigarh University, Mohali, Punjab, on Dec. 10, 2025, for 'interchangeable magnetic charm coupling with load-bearing strap anchor for shoulder bags.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Navneet Kaur; Ankita Nitin; and Srijita Das.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 23, under issue no. 04/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to an interchangeable magnetic charm coupling comprising a pair of thin detachable fabric straps embedded with oppositely oriented Iron Nitride (Fe16N2) magnetic elements configured to securely anchor a shoulder-carried bag strap on garments, particularly puffer jackets and synthetic fabrics characterized by low surface friction. The magnet-embedded straps are positioned on opposite sides of the garment, thereby generating a magnetic clamping field that retains the bag strap in a stable position during movement. The system further incorporates interchangeable ornamental charms mounted onto one strap, enabling customizable aesthetic enhancement without compromising mechanical stability. The detachable, lightweight structure allows rapid attachment and removal, universal compatibility with varied garment types, and improved ergonomics by maintaining natural weight distribution on the shoulder. The invention provides an efficient, fashionable, and user-friendly restraint mechanism to prevent slippage of shoulder bag straps over smooth garment surfaces."
