MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641019795 A) filed by Kalasalingam Academy Of Research And Education, Virudhnagar, Tamil Nadu, on Feb. 20, for 'interactive storage system for location-specific container identification.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. S. Shasi Anand; and Dr. P. Jayakumar.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The titled invention discloses an interactive storage system for location-specific kitchen container identification. The system comprises a storage cabinet (1) having multiple container-receiving slots (4), each slot configured to hold an RFID-tagged I 0 container (3) storing a predetermined item. A dedicated RFID coil reader (5) positioned below each slot detects the RFID tag of the container placed above and transmit identification data to a microcontroller (7). The microcontroller (7) maintains a real-time mapping between container identities and slot locations and dynamically updates the mapping when containers are moved, removed, or replaced. A voice recognition 15 module (6) receives user voice commands requesting a specific container, which are processed by the microcontroller (7) to locate the requested item. Upon identification, the system activates a corresponding slot indicator light (10) and provides visual feedback through an LED display (8) and audio feedback through a speaker (9}, thereby enabling accurate and user-friendly container retrieval."
