MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641043155 A) filed by Francis Xavier Engineering College, Tirunelveli, Tamil Nadu, on April 4, for 'intelligent web-based 3d reconstruction system with adaptive model optimization and qr-enabled augmented reality delivery.'
Inventor(s) include Mrs. N. Raja Priya; Mr. K. Livin Kumar; Mr. A. Mahendran; and Mr. S. Muthu Selvan.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An intelligent web-based solution for creating & displaying 3-dimensional (3D) models of products using Photogrammetry & Augmented Reality is the purpose of this invention. The solution accepts the upload of multiple images or videos by users and processes them through an automated system, which consists of a series of pre-processing steps (e.g., feature extraction), followed by "Structure from Motion" reconstruction of the images to create a 3D representation. The generated 3D representations are then optimized via polygon reduction and texture compression prior to being converted into GLB and USDZ formats - both optimized for fast delivery via web and mobile devices.Once optimized, the products are stored and hosted on a cloud-based server, which allows for fast, scalable and real-time access by users. The solution allows users to view the 3D models through a web-based QR code, which allows users to instantly view the 3D models in an Augmented Reality environment (AR) via a WebXR-enabled device, without downloading or installing any software application. The solution integrates all 3D reconstruction, optimization and AR displays into a single solution offering seamless and easy access for users while providing improved performance, accessibility and user experience. As such, this invention provides an affordable and scalable method for providing interactive visualization of products in many different types of applications, including e-commerce, digital marketing and virtual product demonstrations."
