MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541133898 A) filed by Meenakshi Academy Of Higher Education and Research; and Meenakshi Ammal Dental College And Hospital, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 30, 2025, for 'intelligent stretch band system for monitoring muscle elongation, flexibility and rehabilitation progress.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Sooriaprakas Chandrasekaran; Dr. Koushik Kumar N; and Dr. R. Parthasarathy.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a wearable SMART STRETCH BAND fabricated to monitor muscle elongation, flexibility, stretch intensity, and movement range during stretching exercises and rehabilitation. The device comprises a flexible elastic band body adapted to be wrapped around a user's limb or torso and incorporates a plurality of stretch sensors embedded longitudinally along the band. The sensors are mechanically coupled to the elastic material so that elongation or contraction produces corresponding variations in electrical resistance or capacitance. A microcontroller unit (MCU) receives raw sensor signals, filters noise, and computes parameters including elongation percentage, stretch velocity, and tension index. An integrated Bluetooth communication module wirelessly transmits the processed data to a paired mobile application for real-time monitoring. A rechargeable battery powers the electronic components. The system further enables AI-based analysis at the application level to provide adaptive feedback and guided rehabilitation. The invention enhances flexibility assessment and supports physiotherapy, sports rehabilitation, and home-based recovery."
