MUMBAI, India, April 17 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641019694 A) filed by Sri Manakula Vinayagar Engineering College, Puducherry, India, on Feb. 20, for 'intelligent inter-train communication.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. V. S. K Venkatachalapathy; Dr. A. A. Arivalagar; Dr. A. Thiagaraian; Dr. T. Coumaressin; Mrs. S. Kalaimani; Gautham A; Ragul S; Prathumnan S; and Yogeshwaran K.
The application for the patent was published on April 17, under issue no. 16/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The titled invention discloses an intelligent inter-train communication system to enhance railway- safety through real-time monitoring, collision avoidance, and rapid emergency response. The system operates as an edge-to-cloud architecture in which the onboard train safety unit (1) exchanges operational data with nearby trains via a I 0 wireless communication module (3) and with a centralized cloud monitoring system (10). The microcontroller (2) processes inputs from the GPS positioning module (4), proximity detection sensor (5), intrusion detection sensor (6), and the 360* servomounted directional antenna (7) to compute relative distance, speed, ;md collision risk. The collision risk detection and decision module (8) evaluates the processed data 15 against predefined safety thresholds to determine hazardous conditions and required safety actions. Upon detection of a collision risk or intrusion, the audiovisual alert generation unit (9) provides immediate warnings to the operator while safety and event data are visualized through the web-based monitoring dashboard ( 11) and web visualization interface (12) via the cloud monitoring system (10)."
