MUMBAI, India, June 27 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202331087076 A) filed by Pratima Agarwal, Howrah, West Bengal, on Dec. 20, 2023, for 'intelligent hand-held metal cutting device.'
Inventor(s) include Pratima Agarwal.
The application for the patent was published on June 27, under issue no. 26/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Disclosed herein is an intelligent hand-held metal cutting torch device for precision cutting with optimal utilization of power/gas sources. The device comprises a torch body (100), a nozzle (200), trigger switch (300), a sensor module (400), a microcontroller (500), and a display (600). The torch body (100) has a proximity end (102) facing metal (M) to be cut, a distant end coupled to a power supply cable (C), and a middle grip part (106) onto the trigger switch (300) is mounted. The nozzle (200) is coupled to the proximity end (102) for ejecting ionized flame on the metal (M) upon turning on the trigger switch (300). The sensor module (400) is mounted on the torch body (100) for measuring thickness (S1) and temperature (S2) of the metal (M) to be cut. The microcontroller (500) is configured to automatically calibrate current and frequency settings of plasma power source output based on mapping of the thickness (S1) and temperature (S2) values with a set of reference voltage values stored therein, where the reference voltage values are mapped to corresponding current and frequency values. The display (600) mounted on the torch body (100) for showing operational status all electronic components."
