MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541112407 A) filed by Dr. Jamuna. R; Pratheep. E; Priyankaa. A; Sabari Krishna. M; and Yagavendran. S, Coimbatore, Tamil Nadu, on Nov. 17, 2025, for 'intelligent density based traffic light control with rfid priority access.'

Inventor(s) include Dr. Jamuna. R; Pratheep. E; Priyankaa. A; Sabari Krishna. M; and Yagavendran. S.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The Intelligent Traffic Density-Based Light Control with RFID Priority Access project aims to optimize traffic signal management using real-time sensing and automation. The system employs IR sensors to detect vehicle density on each road and a PIC 16F877 A microcontroller to control the signal timings accordingly. This ensures that roads with higher traffic receive longer green lights, thereby reducing congestion and waiting time. Additionally, RFID technology is integrated to give priority access to emergency vehicles such as ambulances and fire trucks by automatically turning their lane signal green upon detection. This project enhances traffic efficiency, saves fuel, reduces pollution, and ensures faster emergency response -providing a smart, reliable, and energy-efficient solution for modern urban traffic systems."
