MUMBAI, India, Jan. 2 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541122261 A) filed by G. Narayanamma Institute Of Technology & Science (For Women), Hyderabad, Telangana, on Dec. 5, 2025, for 'intelligent cargo rail with automatic unloading system.'

Inventor(s) include Mrs. Ujwala Gajula; Dr. Gouthami Eragamreddy; Dr. Nomula Malla Reddy; Mr. P. Sai Niranjan Kumar; Dr. K. Syamala Devi; Dr. O. Sujana; Ms. D. Gayathri; Ms. C. Lokitha; Ms. G. Kruthika; and Ms. T. Sruthi.

The application for the patent was published on Jan. 2, under issue no. 01/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present disclosure relates to an Intelligent Cargo Rail with Automatic Unloading System configured to autonomously transport and deliver cargo at designated stations without manual intervention. The system includes a primary microcontroller for controlling rail movement, station detection, cargo verification, and unloading operations, and a secondary microcontroller for GPS tracking and RF-based communication. Hall effect sensors identify station positions while infrared sensing modules detect the presence of cargo within dedicated slots. A rack-and-pinion-based electromechanical mechanism, governed by limit switches, performs automatic unloading when the rail halts at the appropriate station. The system bypasses stations with no scheduled delivery, thereby optimizing travel time. An obstacle detection circuit ensures safe operation by halting the rail and transmitting real-time GPS coordinates to a remote monitoring unit. Powered by a regulated rechargeable battery supply, the system enhances safety, efficiency, and accuracy in automated cargo transportation applications."
