MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202611002319 A) filed by Lovely Professional University, Phagwara, Punjab, on Jan. 8, for 'integrated self-healing glass structural monitoring system.'
Inventor(s) include Kodthiwada Ajay; Karanam Girijapathi Naidu; Muppidi Ujjwal; Killada Neeraja; Vankadara Guru Shanmukh; Venkata Kesari Nandan Pakki; and Anzar Hussain Lone.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention provides a structural health monitoring system integrated within a tempered glass panel (100). A self-healing microcapsule layer (102) releases healing agent into micro-fractures, while an acoustic emission sensor array (104) detects rupture events. An impedance or capacitance sensing grid (106) confirms healing agent deployment by measuring localized dielectric changes. An integrated processing unit (108) correlates both signals to verify fracture formation and successful healing, computes a Structural Health Index, and assesses long-term structural integrity. A wireless communication module (110) transmits real-time alerts and predictive maintenance information. The combination of autonomous healing, dual-mode detection, and data-driven lifecycle management enhances safety, reduces failure risk, and extends the operational life of tempered glass installations."
