MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641044414 A) filed by Larsen & Toubro Limited, Chennai, Tamil Nadu, on April 7, for 'integrated mechanical support and controlled hydraulic lowering mechanism for column-hung modular de.'
Inventor(s) include K Senou; S Madhu Anand; and T Arun Kumar.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "This invention relates to a column-hung modular deck formwork lowering system for larger thick slab construction, eliminating the need for ground-supported shoring. The system comprises a plurality of column-mounted bracket assemblies fixed to structural columns, each bracket assembly integrating a mechanical screwjack having a loadcarrying capacity of at least 500 kN and a coaxially arranged hydraulic jack having a rated capacity of about 100 tons with a lowering stroke in the range of 75 to 100 mm. During slab casting, the entire wet concrete and formwork load is supported by the mechanical screwjack. After the concrete attains stripping strength, hydraulic pressure is gradually applied to achieve counter-load balancing between the mechanical screw jack and the hydraulic jack. Upon release of the mechanical screwjack, the modular deck formwork is lowered in a, controlled and synchronized manner, preferably at a rate of about 1 mm per second, enabling shock-free slab separation. The modular deck structure comprises primary girders, secondary beams, and plywood sheathing and is reusable for repetitive slab construction."
