MUMBAI, India, Jan. 9 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202521118700 A) filed by SSB Green Enviro Private Limited, Ahmedabad, Gujarat, on Nov. 28, 2025, for 'integrated catalytic process and system for the production of ethanol from gaseous feedstocks.'
Inventor(s) include Saptarshi Simlai.
The application for the patent was published on Jan. 9, under issue no. 02/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A multi-stage catalytic process and system for producing ethanol from gaseous carbon-containing and hydrogen-containing feed gases is disclosed. The process includes gas purification, controlled mixing, heating, catalytic conversion in a Reverse Water-Gas Shift reactor containing nickel- or iron-based oxide catalysts, moisture removal, compression of the resulting gas mixture, and catalytic ethanol synthesis using copper-based and acidic or shape-selective catalysts. Crude ethanol formed in the synthesis reactor is condensed, separated, distilled, dehydrated using molecular-sieve media, and polished to achieve desired purity. The integrated system incorporates reactors, separation units, compressors, and purification components arranged for continuous ethanol production."
