MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517067584 A) filed by Basf Agricultural Solutions US Llc, Research Triangle Park, U.S.A., on July 15, for 'insect toxin genes and methods for their use.'

Inventor(s) include Zaitseva, Jelena; Miller, Gabriel; Haynes, Alexina; Hobbs, Merlin Eric; Baek, Jongmin; James, Sean; and Grubbs, Kirk.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Compositions and methods for conferring pesticidal activity to bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues and seeds are provided. Compositions comprising a coding sequence for a toxin polypeptide are provided. The coding sequences can be used in DNA constructs or expression cassettes for transformation and expression in plants and bacteria. Compositions also comprise transformed bacteria, plants, plant cells, tissues, and seeds. In certain aspects, isolated toxin nucleic acid molecules are provided. Additionally, amino acid sequences corresponding to the polynucleotides are encompassed, and antibodies specifically binding to those amino acid sequences. Some aspects provide for isolated nucleic acid molecules comprising nucleotide sequences encoding the amino acid sequence shown in any of SEQ ID NOs:21-40 and SEQ ID NOs:45-48, or the nucleotide sequence set forth in any of SEQ ID NOs:1-20 and SEQ ID NOs:41-44, as well as variants and functional fragments thereof having pesticidal activity."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 18, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/084503.
