MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517080305 A) filed by Sika Technology Ag, Baar, Switzerland, on Aug. 25, for 'inorganic foam based on ordinary portland cement.'
Inventor(s) include Farra, Ramzi; Mohri, Nils Erich Karl; and Weldert, Kai Steffen.
The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A method for preparing a mineral foam comprises: (a) providing an aqueous cementitious slurry comprising a cementitious binder, a foam-stabilizing agent and a set control agent; and (b) foaming the cementitious slurry; wherein the set control agent comprises (i) an a-hydroxy monocarboxylic acid or a salt thereof and (ii) an oxyanion source selected from the group consisting of a borate source and a carbonate source. An accelerator agent selected from the group consisting of an aluminum ion source, an aluminate source and a silicate source may be added to the cementitious slurry. The method allows the use of Ordinary Portland Cement or Limestone Calcined Clay Cements without compromising the final strength of the mineral foam."
The patent application was internationally filed on Mar. 28, 2024, under International application No.PCT/EP2024/058546.
