MUMBAI, India, Feb. 13 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541016749 A) filed by LR Research Laboratories Private Limited, Hyderabad, Telangana, on Feb. 26, 2025, for 'innovative synergistic herbicidal combination for weed suppression.'
Inventor(s) include Bijukumar Gopinathan Pillai; Mahesh Masna; Alagasamy Kuppusamy; Venu Gopala Reddy Thummuru; and Mayur Mohanrao Aitawade.
The application for the patent was published on Feb. 13, under issue no. 07/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The present invention relates to a synergistic herbicidal composition comprising pyroxasulfone and pyrazosulfuron-ethyl or an agriculturally acceptable ester thereof. The combination exhibits a synergistic herbicidal effect, as determined by Colby's method, providing effective control of grasses, sedges, and broad-leaf weeds at reduced application rates compared to the individual active ingredients. In a preferred embodiment, the composition is formulated as a water-dispersible granule (WDG) comprising the active ingredients along with agriculturally acceptable formulation auxiliaries. The WDG formulation exhibits good dispersibility, wettability, and storage stability, forming a stable aqueous dispersion upon dilution. The formulation is characterized by an optimized particle size distribution, particularly a median particle size (Dv50) of = 10 m after dispersion, which enhances dispersion stability and biological efficacy. The composition is suitable for pre-emergence and early post-emergence application and is compatible with conventional agricultural spraying equipment."
