MUMBAI, India, May 1 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202631051905 A) filed by National Institute Of Technology, Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, on April 23, for 'industrial delivery robot for heavy payload transport and related methods.'

Inventor(s) include Vijay Kumar Dalla; Prashant Sharma; Souvik Nath; and Mridul Maurya.

The application for the patent was published on May 1, under issue no. 18/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An industrial delivery robot is designed for transporting payloads within industrial facilities. It features a mobile robotic platform with a drive system for locomotion, a traction system for surface engagement, and a motor control module for power regulation. The robot includes a teleoperation communication system for control signal transmission and a cargo compartment for payload containment. A dual-power architecture supports a security subsystem, ensuring cargo access control independently of the drive system's operational status. The security subsystem includes a control unit for processing authentication input and a locking actuator for securing the cargo compartment. The robot's design allows for efficient and secure payload transportation in industrial settings."
