MUMBAI, India, Feb. 6 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202541126524 A) filed by The Principal, K. S. R. College Of Engineering, Tiruchengode, Tamil Nadu, on Dec. 14, 2025, for 'increasing the effectiveness of concrete using gfrp composites.'

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention relates to a method and system for increasing the effectiveness of concrete structures using Glass Fiber Reinforced Polymer composites. GFRP bars, sheets, laminates, strips, rods, or wraps are integrated with concrete as internal reinforcement, external strengthening, or near-surface mounted reinforcement to enhance tensile strength, flexural capacity, crack resistance, durability, and service life. The method includes appropriate surface preparation, bonding, and curing to ensure composite action. The invention provides a lightweight, corrosion-resistant, and sustainable alternative to conventional reinforcement and strengthening techniques for concrete infrastructure."
