MUMBAI, India, July 5 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517049113 A) filed by Kemira Oyj, Helsinki, on May 21, for 'improved retention of engineered cellulosic additives using synergistic cationic polymer combination.'

Inventor(s) include Riser, Jennifer; Vanderkolk, John; Chen, Junhua; and Luo, Yuping.

The application for the patent was published on July 4, under issue no. 27/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "The invention generally relates to a novel combination comprising 2 different cationic polymers and engineered cellulose additive (ECA) and the use thereof for promoting the retention of engineered cellulose additives (ECAs) to anionic fibers and colloids and in the fiber web during papermaking, optionally wherein the papermaking process predominantly or entirely uses Kraft or virgin fibers."

The patent application was internationally filed on Dec. 14, 2023, under International application No.PCT/US2023/083948.
