MUMBAI, India, May 29 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202641062320 A) filed by Kits Akshar Institute Of Technology; and KKR & KSR Institute of Technology and Sciences, Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, on May 16, for 'implementation of wide range of voltage level-up shifter for soc application.'
Inventor(s) include Dr. Tirupathaiah. K; Dr G Ramyasree; Pallapati Lavanya; Kellam Jaya Sri; Singam Sujitha; and Balusupati Tejaswini.
The application for the patent was published on May 29, under issue no. 22/2026.
According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "Modern System-on-Chip (SoC) designs integrate multiple functional blocks operating at different supply voltage levels to reduce overall power consumption and improve performance. However, interfacing circuits across multiple voltage domains creates significant challenges in signal integrity, reliability, delay, and power efficiency. A voltage level-up shifter is therefore essential to safely convert low-voltage input signals to higher-voltage output levels without degrading performance. This work presents the implementation of a wide-range voltage level-up shifter suitable for multi-VDD SoC applications. The proposed design is capable of operating across a broad input voltage range while driving a higher output voltage domain efficiently. Special focus is given to reducing static power consumption, minimizing propagation delay, and ensuring reliable operation under low-voltage conditions. The architecture incorporates optimized transistor sizing and current-controlled techniques to improve switching speed and robustness. The design also addresses key challenges such as contention current, leakage power, and process-voltage-temperature (PVT) variations. Simulation and verification are carried out using CMOS technology (e.g., 180 nm process) in a standard EDA environment such as Cadence Virtuoso."
