MUMBAI, India, July 25 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517060142 A) filed by Chemtor, Lp, Lockhart, U.S.A., on June 24, for 'immobilized enzyme fiber reactor and oil refining using the same.'

Inventor(s) include Wood, Leslie; and Kohl, Scott D.

The application for the patent was published on July 25, under issue no. 30/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An immobilized enzyme fiber reactor includes a plurality a fibers disposed within a hollow conduit. The fibers have an enzyme, such as a phospholipase, attached thereto. The enzymes can be attached to the fibers via an anchor group and, optionally, a bifunctional crosslinker. The enzymes can be applied, stripped, and reapplied without disassembling the reactor or discarding the fibers. The immobilized enzyme fiber reactor can be used to treat oils including phospholipids, such as soybean oil, and reduce an impurity content thereof."

The patent application was internationally filed on Jan. 12, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/011361.
