MUMBAI, India, Oct. 11 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202517090476 A) filed by Interdigital VC Holdings, Inc., Wilmington, U.S.A., on Sept. 22, for 'image/video compression with scalable latent representation.'

Inventor(s) include Jiang, Wei; Choi, Hyomin; and Racape, Fabien.

The application for the patent was published on Oct. 10, under issue no. 41/2025.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "At least a method and an apparatus are presented for efficiently encoding or decoding video, for example human-centric video content. For example, at least one embodiment using a scalable latent representation comprising a generic codebook-based representation and a low-quality latent representation of a video. According to another embodiment, the scalable latent representation further comprises a domain-adaptive codebook-based representation. Advantageously, such scalable latent representation provides, for content such as human-centric video, a domain-adaptive and task-adaptive video coding framework that can be flexibly configured to accommodate both human and machine consumption."

The patent application was internationally filed on Feb. 22, 2024, under International application No.PCT/US2024/016895.
