MUMBAI, India, April 10 -- Intellectual Property India has published a patent application (202647041945 A) filed by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd., Gyeonggi, Republic of Korea, on April 1, for 'image sensor, electronic device comprising image sensor, and operating method thereof.'

Inventor(s) include Moon, Inah; Park, Jaehyoung; Shimokawa, Shuichi; Kang, Kawang; Song, Byeongjoo; Youn, Yeotak; and Won, Jonghoon.

The application for the patent was published on April 10, under issue no. 15/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "An electronic device according to various embodiments may comprise a camera module. An image sensor of the camera module may comprise: a first pixel group for outputting phase difference data in a first direction; and a second pixel group for outputting phase difference data in a second direction. The image sensor according to various embodiments can acquire phase difference data of two or more directions without increasing the number of times an analog-to-digital conversion operation is performed. Various embodiments other than the described embodiments are possible."

The patent application was internationally filed on Oct. 21, 2024, under International application No.PCT/KR2024/015952.
