Inventor(s) include Malla Reddy Deemed To Be University; Dr. Shaik Mazhar Hussain; Satyam Chidari; Karnati Harshitha; Lingaram Shiva Prakash; Dr N. Manikanda Devarajan; Dr G Prasanna Kumar; Dr. T. Srinivas Reddy; Dr M Nithin Varma; and Dr. A. Pradeep Kumar.

The application for the patent was published on Feb. 27, under issue no. 09/2026.

According to the abstract released by the Intellectual Property India: "A Method of Traffic Control Using Image Morphological Operations A camera collects image sequences of vehicles at traffic intersections. They perform morphological processing of the images, using erosions and dilations to segment vehicle regions and extract them from pixels that are not part of the vehicle, and then use connected component analysis to count the vehicles and estimate the traffic density. Then an adaptive control module dynamically changes traffic light timings according to the inferred traffic density, obviating embedded pavement sensors and fixed timing. The system enables economical and powerful vision-based traffic control. For example, US20160345123A1 (Traffic Signal Control Using Vision-Based Vehicle Detection), as relevant prior art, relates to basic vision detection but does not show how advanced morphological segmentation and adaptive signal timing can be used together."
